The current Lombardy junior champion changes category with the U23 team of the Contador Foundation. Sebastiano Minoia, Seba for his many friends in the cycling world, comes from the G. C. Feralpi Group ASD after a great season in the Italian calendar. “For me it’s a great opportunity. I hope to do really well, I’m very excited and I want to give everything from the beginning. It was a great joy to receive Ivan’s proposal”, he says. Minoia (13/05/2003) was introduced to cycling by a friend of his father. One day, in a park, he tried out his club and was hooked from the start. GS Sprint Ghedi or VC Sarnico were two of the structures in which he developed his training. As a first year junior he competed with Team LVF, but the impact of the pandemic put the brakes on the competition and the structure lost its sponsorship. The year of confinement was very hard for everyone, including him. That is why the mythical Passo de Croce Domini (1892 m) has become a special place for him. “It was the first climb we did with a group of friends after COVID-19. That’s why I liked it even more”, he recalls. Seba is the son of Alberto Minoia, a former AC Milan football player, among other clubs in a sporting career that spanned two decades. Amerigo, Alessandro and little Victoria are his siblings. Music relaxes him and he enjoys rap and trap music. The 2022 season will be the first season in which he will focus on cycling, and for the future he is thinking about going back to school, with an interest in starting an engineering degree. “Of course I would like to resume my studies, but first I want to try one more year focused on cycling. I think it’s interesting to get to know myself better and to develop”. About his profile as a rider, Minoia says: “I feel like a complete cyclist. I like hard, selective courses, but I have a good top speed. I have always liked the track and I have been able to compete in the elimination race many times. I like the velodromes. The races I like the most are the big classics. I like Paris-Roubaix very much. And many races on the Belgian calendar. Of course Milan-Sanremo is also special. Such a long race, with hardness in the last kilometres, the speed… When we were younger, our team had a training camp in the area and we were able to watch it from the sidelines. I was amazed by the atmosphere”.
