Andrea Montoli, stagiaire at the Giro di Toscana: “It has been an unforgettable experience”

Andrea Montoli enjoyed this Wednesday his first competitive experience with professional riders in the Giro di Toscana, one of the races in the succession of Italian one-day races, many of them centenaries, that take place between September and October in which he took part with the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team.

Montoli formed team with other cyclists who have passed through the U23 structure of the Foundation, the Italian Alessandro Fancellu and the Spaniards Álex Martín and Alejandro Ropero. Francesco Gavazzi, Mirco Maestri and Edward Ravasi completed the ‘seven’.

“It was a very fast day from the start. I tried to catch the good breakaway of the day, but I wasn’t that lucky. I was very close. Just after my last start Maestri made a move and he finally managed to be in that move. I did my best to stay in the race until the end, but for us it came to an end after the second descent to Monte Serra. It was an unforgettable experience and I hope it will be repeated soon,” he explains.

The victory of this edition of the Giro di Toscana went to the Swiss Marc Hirschi (UAE), who won within a group of five riders (Daniel Felipe Martínez, Ineos; Esteban Chaves, EF; Lorenzo Rota, Intermarché-Wanty; Einer Rubio, Movistar; and Hirschi himself) that regrouped with 5.2 kilometres to go.
