-¿Cuál será tu objetivo y cómo te has planteado este reto?

Enric Mas, invited by Tinkoff-Saxo To next training camp in Sicily

Enric Mas, from the Specialized-Sub 23 Team, has been invited by Tinkoff-Saxo Team of Bjarne Riis to next training camp of Russian team, held in Sicily from next January 9th. The Mallorcan rider, who turns 20 on January 6, is the first rider of Alberto Contador Foundation passing a test with a team of top level, after one year ago Álvaro Cuadros became the first professional of the Foundation signed with Etixx Continental, then development team of Omega Pharma-Quick Step.

Fran Contador, manager of the Foundation, believes that this invitation fulfill one of its objectives, “help young cyclists to train and become professionals. As today we still don’t have a professional team in Alberto Contador Foundation, we take our contacts in the peloton to provide our riders these opportunities”.

Enric Mas, in fact, now will do the step that before did “riders like Majka or Valgreen” recalls Fran Contador. “This doesn’t mean that they will sign Enric Mas, but it is important that a Foundation cyclist go to training camp of Tinkoff-Saxo team with great riders like Alberto or Peter Sagan. It is a great experience for Enric and a motivation for all of us”.

For Enric Mas the invitation to this training camp is “a dream come true, because going to a camp with the best team in the world can be the beginning of a long road. I hope to learn a lot and that someday I can do another camp, but as part of the team”.

-What will be your goal and how you’ve raised this challenge?

-Especially I want to learn and enjoy the experience of being with riders who are my idols since childhood. And then, if I have a minimum of forces, try letting me see a little bit.

-What about the goals for next year?

-The First goal is to perform well in this camp and then go to the Vuelta al Bidasoa, Spain’s Cup and Valenciaga, Giro d’Aosta and Palencia. I hope to come well to these final tours.

-How is for you the second year in the U23 category?

-I think that’s the most important year of my career, because if I have some luck and perform well, next year could make the leap to professional.
