José Luis Medina

Age 19
Height (cm) 170
Weight (kg) 66

Born in Málaga´s Province, but living in the picturesque town of Setenil de las Bodegas (Cádiz), José Luis Medina came to the world of cycling with his mountain bike, a modality he had been practising for some years while enrolled in the Artanaca Bike Setenil Centre. After the death of one of his grandparents he started to ride more assiduously, as a way of disconnecting. Little by little, even with participations in the iconic 101 km of Ronda, he got hooked on this discipline. Over time Medina began to practice duathlon. Facing his second year as a cadet, and encouraged by the U23 rider Sergio Garcia, he began to practice road racing more specifically at the Luis Angel Maté Academy with good results: champion of Andalusia against the clock, runner-up on the road, winner of the Vuelta a Valdepeñas, several partial successes… After two seasons in the youth team of the Contador Foundation, with good results and very regular performances, Medina made the jump to the U23 team.
